Piracy and war in the Bristol Channel

31/01/2025

Piracy and war in the Bristol Channel 1400-1700 (Ripping Yarns) by Philip Ashford on Friday 31st January 7.30 at the Chipping Clubroom in the Chipping Car Park

There has never been a famous naval engagement in the Bristol Channel in all our long maritime history.  Why might that be?

Does that mean that the Bristol Channel was devoid of dirty dealings and death brought on by avarice or misguided national motives? Far from it. This richly illustrated talk brings to life mainly unpublished and un-analysed engagements of petty and significant proportions which enables the listener to enter into the sometimes dangerous lives of those who sailed in the Bristol Channel between 1400 and 1700.

If you wished to be stimulated, saddened, shocked and shaken by stories of the Severn-Sea be certain to attend!
