Rob Carruthers will host a circular walk at 10.30am from the Heritage Centre

Rob Carruthers will host a circular walk inspired by Sophie’s routes from the town to her house in Wortley terrace, leaving from the Heritage Centre in Wotton-under-Edge at 10.30am

Part 1 is the circular dry walk and will not involve cross-country paths. We anticipate the walk to be up to two hours in length.

Part 2 is an optional extra for some and potentially a muddy wet walk, escorted by Louise. It will follow a route almost certainly taken by Sophie to Cuckoo Lane and a footpath up the hill towards Newark Park. The distance taken can be decided on the day. Those making this trek will have to make their own way back to the Heritage Centre.

Sadly, a country walk to Lower Lodge on the Newark Park estate will not be possible today, due to the distance involved. Sophie made this walk many times and had the option of sleeping overnight on the floor, thanks to the local gamekeeper.
